after the Manzanilla tree that once grew abundantly here, La Manzanilla is a small
fishing village of approximately 1000 people. Located in the state of Jalisco,
this quaint fishing village is tucked away in the southeastern corner of the pristine
Bay of Tenacatita. This idyllic half-moon shaped bay on the "Costa Allegre", which
means Happy Coast, is a popular beach destination for local Mexicans as well as
visitors from Canada and the United States.

La Manzanilla has one of the most beautiful
beaches on the "Costa Allegre". The sandy beach is about 5 kilometres long stretching
from the town centre to Boca Iquanas. Its gentle surf makes it very safe for swimming
and body surfing, with great snorkeling, fishing and kayaking.
CLAIMS TO FAME
La Manzanilla is famous for its Mangrove, a wetland ecosystem
that is home to as many as 200 resident American crocodiles. This sanctuary is
now a protected area and the crocodiles are studied by universities world-wide.
They are easily viewed from a platform at the southern end of the village.

TENACATITA, is a famous spot for Sea Turtles and egg hatching.

The LA GALERIA La Manzanilla
is a wonderful art gallery featuring so many of its resident artists from all
over the world who came and settled in the town. TAMARINDO Golf Resort is also
one of the top rated courses in the world.
MELAQUE is the next closest town, followed by BARRA DE
NAVIDAD. La Manzanilla has buses running daily to both towns approximately every
two hours. All three towns have a large Street Market Day once a week, with vendors
coming from all over to peddle their wares.

The town of La Manzanilla is small with one main street that runs parallel to
the beach and loops around at the far end of town. It is fast becoming a much
enjoyed holiday destination for many North Americans. La Manzanilla boasts many
authentic Mexican and International cuisine restaurants with lots of family owned
stores for shopping and groceries, fresh produce, fresh meat and fresh fish caught
